Cyprus Police Arrest Eight Illegal Immigrants in Famagusta Province
In a recent operation targeting illegal employment of immigrants, Cyprus authorities apprehended eight individuals in the Famagusta province.
According to the police press release, six people were caught working illegally at a property undergoing renovations, while two others were detained for unauthorized residency in the Republic of Cyprus.
The raid was conducted by officers from the Foreigners and Immigration Service (IAM), in collaboration with the Ministry of Labor.
Further investigations revealed that four individuals, all aged 69, were acting as employers. One of them was questioned and is suspected of involvement in criminal activities.
Efforts to identify the employers of the remaining migrants are ongoing.
It's worth noting that earlier reports indicated that nearly 4,500 illegal immigrants were repatriated from the Republic of Cyprus in the first five months of 2024.
