A significant fire broke out overnight at a café on the Dekelia British Base in Cyprus, causing extensive damage to the building. Authorities are considering the possibility of criminal charges.

According to Famagusta Police, the fire started just before 1 a.m. in a property owned by a 48-year-old man, located in a refugee housing complex belonging to the Electricity Authority of Cyprus (EAC).

Firefighters from both the Larnaca Fire Department and the British Dekelia Base responded quickly to extinguish the flames. The interior of the café sustained substantial damage in the incident.

The site is now secured, and an investigation is ongoing to determine the fire’s cause. Authorities have not ruled out the potential for criminal charges, and the Famagusta Criminal Investigations Department is handling the case.
