Asylum Seekers Caught Stealing Construction Scaffolding in Limassol
In Limassol, the police detained five individuals attempting to steal construction scaffolding from a building site. The perpetrators did not have any identification on them.
According to the police press service, a local resident reported to law enforcement yesterday evening that unknown individuals were allegedly stealing construction scaffolding from a building under construction in a village near Limassol.
Upon arrival at the crime scene, officers from the Pachna police station discovered five people loading construction scaffolding into a vehicle.
Subsequent checks revealed that the individuals had no documents on them to prove their identity. They were taken to the Episkopi police station. During the investigation, it was determined that three of the detainees were asylum seekers, and the applications of the other two suspects had already been rejected as they were residing in the Republic of Cyprus illegally.
Subsequently, these individuals were arrested based on court orders and placed in custody.
