Five Aircraft Fighting Fire Near British Base Outside Limassol
Today, another major forest fire occurred in Cyprus. The blaze near the British military base at Akrotiri is being tackled by five aircraft.
According to emergency services, the fire broke out on Monday afternoon in the village of Fasouri, near Limassol. The flames have already destroyed several trees and wild vegetation.
Andreas Kettis, a spokesperson for the fire department, stated that four fire engines were involved in firefighting efforts: two belonging to the fire service and one to forestry management.
In addition, five aircraft were dispatched to assist in extinguishing the fire.
The affected area falls under the jurisdiction of the Sovereign Base Areas (SBAs).
