The dust is receding, winter is returning: strong thunderstorms with hail and snow are expected in Cyprus on February 14th
According to the Department of Meteorology of the Republic of Cyprus, on Wednesday, February 14th, the region is influenced by low pressure. The dust that has been hanging in the air for the past few days is gradually receding. Instead, rain with hail and snow is returning to the region.
Today, in the first half of the day, the weather will be mostly cloudy with local showers and isolated storms, possibly with hail, mainly in the western and northern regions. It is expected that from noon, clouds will again bring isolated downpours and isolated thunderstorms, mainly over highlands, inland, and in the east. Wet snow may fall on the highest peaks of Troodos.
According to the meteorological forecast, during the day today, the air temperature will reach up to 17°C in inland areas, up to 19°C in the southeast and on the eastern coast, up to 18°C on the remaining coasts, and down to 7°C in the mountains.
By the evening, localized cloud intensification with isolated downpours and thunderstorms is expected, mainly along the coast.
The air temperature will drop to about 6°C in inland areas, to 9°C on the south, east, and north coasts, to 11°C on the west coast, and to 2°C in mountainous areas, where local frosts will form.
The temperature will gradually decrease slightly until Friday to approach average climatic values, and will slightly increase on Saturday.
