Cyprus Receives 117% of Average Monthly Rainfall in November

The Meteorological Service of the Republic of Cyprus reports that the amount of rainfall in November has already surpassed 117% of the typical monthly total.

Since the beginning of the month, Cyprus has received an average of 62.3 mm of rain, compared to the usual monthly average of 53.3 mm. In just the last few days, a total of 27.9 mm has fallen.

Over the past three days, the village of Pano Panayia in the Paphos district recorded 57.7 mm of rain, making it the wettest location on the island this weekend. The least amount of rainfall was recorded in Afiena.

Additionally, some areas in the northern part of the island experienced even higher rainfall: on Sunday, one village in the Kyrenia district recorded 72 mm of rain.

According to data released last week by the Water Department, despite the increased rainfall since the beginning of November, Cyprus' reservoirs are still only 25% full.

Earlier reports indicated that October 2024 was one of the driest months in Cyprus’ history. For the first time in 60 years—and the third time in 100 years—meteorologists recorded no rainfall at all.
