The saved migrant child from the boat passed away in the hospital
A child who was rescued yesterday from a boat with migrants off the coast of Cyprus died at the Makarios Hospital. Four more children remain in the hospital.
According to a representative of the State Health Services (Okypy), the child passed away on Thursday morning due to sudden cardiac arrest.
Two more children remain in the intensive care unit at the Makarios Hospital, and two others are at the Famagusta General Hospital in Paralimni. According to doctors, two out of the four children are in critical condition in the ICU under medical observation.
Additionally, two adults with fractures are undergoing treatment at the Larnaca General Hospital.
Recall that yesterday morning, another ship with illegal migrants was discovered off the coast of Cyprus. There were people unconscious on board, including children. In total, about 60 migrants were rescued. Authorities found three children and one unconscious man on the ship, and three others had fractures of the lower limbs.
As a result of investigations and expertise conducted by competent authorities, it was established that the ship departed from Lebanon on January 18, 2024. All individuals on board are of Syrian origin.
