Turkish Cypriots and Greek Cypriots to Celebrate Peace Day in the Ancient City of Soli
An event to commemorate the International Day of Peace, observed on September 1st, will take place in the ancient city of Soli in Northern Cyprus.
According to the Lefke Municipality, this year will mark the sixth annual celebration of the event. Participants from both the Turkish Cypriot and Greek Cypriot communities will come together to perform poetry and music. The festivities will begin at 7:30 PM.
Lefke Mayor Aziz Kaya noted that, in times like these, when we receive daily news of ongoing conflicts in nearby regions, the International Day of Peace on September 1st serves as a poignant reminder of the value of peace.
“In a world filled with wars around us, preserving peace in Cyprus is more crucial than ever. When Turkish Cypriots and Greek Cypriots unite for peace, it sends a message not only about their own future but also to the entire world,” the mayor stated.
