Crew Member of Commercial Ship Rescued off Cyprus Coast by Helicopter
A crew member of a commercial vessel was airlifted to a hospital in Limassol after being rescued off the coast of Cyprus.
According to the Joint Rescue Coordination Center (JRCC), the incident occurred on Sunday afternoon. At approximately 13:45, the National Search and Rescue Plan "Nearchos" was activated to facilitate the air evacuation of the crew member. The ship was located about 12 nautical miles south of Cyprus, within the Republic of Cyprus's Search and Rescue Region.
A helicopter from the 460MED Air Force Command was mobilized, along with a specialized paramedic to assist with the evacuation.
By 15:00, the patient had been safely transported to Limassol General Hospital. The exact details of the crew member’s condition were not disclosed by the rescue team.
