University of Nicosia Applies to Open a Branch in Greece
Twelve international universities have submitted applications to establish branches in Greece, aiming to start operations in the 2025–2026 academic year. Among them are the University of Nicosia, the University of York, Sorbonne University, the University of East London, and the University of West London.
However, submitting an application does not automatically guarantee approval. Each proposal will undergo a thorough evaluation by the Hellenic Authority for Higher Education (ETHAAE) and the National Organisation for the Certification of Qualifications and Vocational Guidance (EOPPEP).
In addition, one university has already applied for the 2026–2027 academic year, and applications from at least two more institutions are expected in the near future.
Previous reports also indicated that Frederick University had shown interest in opening a branch in Greece.
