Foreign National Detained at Paphos Airport with Fake Polish Passport
A foreign national attempting to leave Cyprus with a fake Polish passport was arrested by police at Paphos Airport. The individual planned to fly to the Netherlands but was stopped at border control.
Michalis Nikolaou, Assistant Director of the Paphos Police, reported that the incident occurred on Tuesday around 2:00 pm in the airport's departure area. The man presented a residence permit for the Republic of Cyprus along with a Polish ID card, which he intended to use for his flight to the Netherlands. However, during verification, officials determined the passport was forged.
The man initially entered Cyprus on October 23, 2024, arriving on a flight from Brussels with the same falsified document. He was granted a residence permit upon arrival, but the fake passport was detected as he attempted to depart.
The suspect is now in custody and denies all charges against him.
