August Rainfall in Cyprus Was Just 48% of the Average
Preliminary data from the Department of Meteorology indicates that Cyprus received only 48% of its average rainfall for August.
From August 1st to the morning of August 27th, the total rainfall measured was just 1.4 millimeters, significantly below the monthly average of 2.9 millimeters.
The highest rainfall during this period was recorded in Lithrodontas, which received 7.5 millimeters—250% of the average for August. Stavros tis Psokas followed with 3.9 millimeters, representing 81% of the average. Saittas received 7.1 millimeters, which is 49% of its average.
It's worth noting that this year has been one of the driest in recent history, with July being declared the hottest month ever recorded.
