Air Conditioners Fail at Paphos Hospital During Heatwave
During a severe heatwave, the air conditioners at a general hospital in Paphos have malfunctioned. The incident occurred yesterday afternoon in the hospital's pathology department.
Alphanews reported on the hospital incident, stating that the situation had not been resolved by this morning. Meanwhile, the meteorological service forecasts temperatures in Cyprus to reach 40 degrees Celsius today. A "yellow" warning for high temperatures has been issued for the region, effective from 11:00 onwards.
According to media reports, the maintenance of the air conditioners is handled by a private company. Officials informed patients yesterday that repairs to the cooling units would not be prompt, with equipment maintenance scheduled to continue on Wednesday, June 19.
Authorities are hopeful that the issue at the general hospital in Paphos will be resolved before the meteorological warning takes effect.
