Medieval Fountain Restored in Choulou Village near Paphos
The historical medieval fountain in the heart of Choulou village in Paphos has been fully restored.
According to the village Mukhtar (mayor), Marios Lazarou, the restoration was carried out by the Department of Antiquities, with a budget of €45,000.
"We conducted thorough research to restore the medieval fountain and also upgraded the surrounding area, including a pedestrian bridge and pathways," said the village head.
Choulou is believed to have been founded during the Byzantine period and stands out for its unique architectural style. The village features narrow streets, white stone houses with courtyards and internal arches, wooden windows and doors, as well as tiled roofs.
Looking ahead, the community plans to invest in similar development projects to boost tourism and draw more visitors to the village.
