Due to the eruption of the volcano, an entire island has been evacuated in Indonesia
In Indonesia, the eruption of Mount Ruang has begun. Due to the natural disaster, all 838 residents of the eponymous island have been evacuated.
According to data from Indonesia's volcano monitoring agency, PVMBG, the eruption of Mount Ruang began on the evening of April 16th. Since then, the volcano has already shown its activity three times. On April 17th, an eruption with maximum amplitude was recorded on the seismogram, lasting about 2 minutes.
According to the head of PVMBG, at the time of preparing the report, the rumbling sounds of the eruption were still ongoing.
After the increased activity of the volcano, the country's authorities raised the alert level to three and decided to evacuate the island.
Mount Ruang is located on the eponymous island, approximately 100 kilometers from the capital of North Sulawesi, Manado. Due to the threat of further eruptions, a total of 272 families or 838 people have been evacuated from the island.
“Thank God, there were no casualties. Currently, the island of Ruang is cleared. All residents have been evacuated,” quoted the head of PVMBG by RIA Novosti.
