15-Year-Old Girl Drowns in Sea at Larnaca
A young girl drowned in Larnaca. The body of a 15-year-old teenager was pulled out of the water unconscious.
According to the Joint Rescue Coordination Center (JRCC), the tragedy occurred on Wednesday afternoon. At 16:15, emergency services received a call about a young girl in distress in the Larnaca Bay area.
Immediate response teams, including a rescue boat from the Larnaca district administration, a vessel from the port and marine police, an ambulance from the state health services (Okypy), and a patrol car from the Larnaca police headquarters, were dispatched to the scene. By the time the victim was pulled out of the water, she was already unconscious. She was transported by ambulance to Larnaca General Hospital, where doctors pronounced her dead.
It should be noted that another incident on the water occurred just the previous evening in Limassol. At 18:45, a distress call was received from a person in trouble at Ladies Mile beach.
The individual was caught in a strong current while paddleboarding and called for help.
A port boat and marine police were dispatched to the scene, successfully rescuing the beachgoer.
