Fire Breaks Out in Larnaca Juvenile Shelter, Leading to Evacuation
A fire broke out last night in a juvenile shelter in Larnaca, forcing the evacuation of all residents and staff.
According to emergency services, the fire began around 3:40 AM in an office on the first floor of the building. The blaze caused significant damage to the room and the equipment inside.
As the fire spread, smoke filled the building. Rescue teams arrived promptly and evacuated 20 minors along with two staff members. During a search of the second floor, a person was found lying down. They were safely moved to a secure location, and it was later confirmed that they were unharmed.
The fire was quickly extinguished using fire extinguishers. The fire service carried out a thorough inspection of the site and ventilated the building before allowing the shelter’s residents to return to their rooms.
