Larnaca Courthouse Evacuated After Bomb Threat
The Larnaca District Court was evacuated on Thursday, February 27, following a bomb threat. However, no explosives were found, and the alert was determined to be a false alarm.
According to police, authorities were placed on high alert after an anonymous caller reported a bomb inside the courthouse.
A bomb disposal expert, pyrotechnic specialists, and additional police units were immediately dispatched to the scene. Officers ordered the evacuation of the building, ensuring that everyone was safely escorted outside before conducting a thorough search.
Fortunately, no explosives or suspicious items were found during the inspection, which involved police K-9 units and explosive ordnance specialists. The courthouse resumed normal operations shortly after.
Authorities have launched an investigation to identify the caller.
