Man Sentenced in Larnaca for Smuggling Over 16 Kilograms of Drugs
In Larnaca, a 26-year-old man has been sentenced to 11 years in prison for trafficking over 16 kilograms of drugs.
The case involves the importation of 16 kilograms and 752 grams of cannabis. The drugs were smuggled into Cyprus in March last year in luggage that arrived at Larnaca Airport on a flight from a foreign country. Upon arrival, the suspicious passenger and his luggage were inspected by Customs officials as part of a joint operation between the police and Customs to combat drug smuggling and distribution.
After the drugs were discovered in the suitcases, the police arrested the 26-year-old man based on a court warrant and took him into custody.
The case was investigated by the Larnaca Provincial Drug Enforcement Unit.
