A new beach to be created in Limassol
Reconstruction of the coastal area in the Ayios Antonios district has begun in Limassol, where a new beach with a length of 350 meters will be created. Mayor Yiannis Armeftis stated that it will become a new space for leisure and relaxation. Work has already started on cleaning the seabed and developing beach infrastructure.
This part of the coast, formerly an industrial zone, was previously closed to the public. Now the area has been cleared, with plans for renovating existing buildings and new construction. The beach will provide sea access for residents of nearby neighborhoods. A broader seabed survey is also planned for its full cleaning.
The municipality expects support from the Cyprus government, including the relocation of old port facilities. Along the stretch from the marina to the New Port, a public space with beaches up to one kilometer long is planned. Construction has already begun on a 1,050-meter-long pedestrian and cycling path, 4.5 meters wide, with eco-friendly paving, trees, a park, and smart lighting. Completion is expected within two months. The project is being implemented under the “Limassol 2030” strategy and the climate program.
