Large Forest Fire Breaks Out in Limassol: Air Support Deployed
A large forest fire broke out in the Limassol area on Wednesday afternoon. Firefighting efforts have been bolstered with air support.
According to emergency services, the blaze began between the communities of Potami and Vasa Koilani. Initially, ground teams were mobilized, with three fire trucks arriving at the scene. Later, two aircraft from Paphos were deployed to assist from the air. The Forest Department is also involved, with two pieces of equipment helping to manage the fire.
The firefighting efforts are being made more difficult by strong winds. Authorities are closely monitoring the situation, as the Meteorological Department has issued a warning that wind intensity is not expected to subside until midnight.
