Paphos to Launch Food Waste Recycling Program
The Paphos Municipality has announced a pilot program to manage and recycle food waste, set to roll out immediately after the Christmas holidays.
“By managing food waste from catering businesses, we can provide fresh meals to families in need while also contributing to environmental sustainability,” explained Mariela Theofanos, a representative of the municipality’s social welfare department.
The program will make use of surplus food donated by restaurants, cafes, supermarkets, and bakeries. A list of participating establishments has already been finalized.
This initiative received unanimous approval during a recent plenary session of the Paphos Municipal Council.
The program aims not only to promote environmental awareness but also to provide vital support to families struggling with financial challenges.
