At the Embassy of the Russian Federation in Cyprus, a reception was held to celebrate Russia's Day
A ceremonial reception took place at the Embassy of the Russian Federation in the Republic of Cyprus to commemorate Russia Day.
According to a statement from the diplomatic mission, the event was attended by accredited diplomats, members of the clergy, public and political figures, business representatives, cultural figures, compatriots, and journalists who came to extend their congratulations on the national holiday.
In his welcoming address, the Russian Ambassador to Cyprus, Murat Ziyazikov, highlighted the significant cultural and linguistic ties between Cyprus, which is politically part of the European Union and geographically located in the Greater Middle East region, and the multifaceted Russian world. He noted that over 10% of the island's population speaks the Russian language.
"Today, Cyprus has become a second home for many of our compatriots. The Russian diaspora here exceeds 120,000 people, the majority of whom maintain strong ties with their homeland. I am pleased to observe that Russians living here openly express their love and respect for the Motherland, their belief in its unquestionable sovereignty, and its bright future, unlike in many Western countries," stated Murat Ziyazikov.
Russia Day, the national holiday of the Russian Federation, was established in 1992 and is celebrated annually on June 12.
