In recent days of Holy Week, there has been a sharp increase in supermarket visits in Cyprus. Mainly, shoppers focused on purchasing food and essential items for the Easter table, while buying less clothing and footwear.

According to the head of the Small Retailers Association, Stefanos Kurssaris, economic constraints have led consumers to prioritize essential goods, often forgoing "small luxury items."

"Compared to last year's Easter period, supermarket activity has remained at the same level," stated the union leader.

It is noted by specialists that after the holidays, shopper activity in supermarkets is expected to decrease.

It was previously reported that during the Easter holidays in Cyprus, visits to entertainment venues and restaurants halved. The majority of Cypriots preferred to celebrate Easter at home.
