This weekend, Cyprus will host the Tulip Festival
The annual wild tulip festival will take place this Sunday, April 7, at the cultural center "Metochi" in Polemi, the only village in Cyprus where this endemic flower grows.
As part of the celebration, there will be a tulip exhibition, as well as an artistic program with songs and dances. Festival-goers can enjoy stalls with wine and food, stands featuring traditional handicrafts, and a stroll through the tulip fields. The festival will start at 11:00.
The festival is held under the auspices of the President of the Republic of Cyprus. The official representative of the government, Konstantinos Letimpiotis, will welcome guests to the celebration.
The Cypriot tulip is a rare endemic plant classified as a specially protected species and included in the Red Book of the flora of Cyprus. The flower is classified as endangered.
