Authorities in Limassol Tried to Assist Deceased Homeless Russian Woman
The Ministry of Social Welfare and Social Insurance of the Republic of Cyprus announced that the state provided accommodation for the deceased homeless woman.
According to Deputy Minister Marilena Evangelou, the deceased was well known to social services. Authorities made every effort to provide shelter for the woman. However, despite all the efforts of social services, the woman continued to live in an abandoned house, where her body was eventually discovered.
"For confidentiality reasons, I cannot provide additional information about the deceased woman," said the deputy minister.
Marilena Evangelou also highly praised the cooperation with the State Health Services Organization (Okypy) and other support services provided by the state, urging the public to report information about the homeless to the authorities.
Recall that the body of the deceased woman was found on Saturday evening in an abandoned house in the Neapolis area of Limassol. Another homeless foreigner, who used the place as a shelter, discovered the body. It was determined that the body belonged to a 45-year-old Russian citizen who was homeless. The exact cause of death will be determined by the autopsy.
