A 50-year-old tourist bus driver in Cyprus tested positive for drugs just before a school excursion. The driver has been arrested by the police.

According to the police press office, drug tests were conducted on six drivers before buses carrying students from Paphos set off for the excursion, following guidelines from the Ministry of Education. Five of the six drivers tested negative. However, the test result of the 50-year-old foreign driver revealed that he was under the influence of drugs.

The driver was immediately arrested, and the bus company quickly replaced him, ensuring the excursion could still take place. The remaining five buses continued as planned. The Ministry of Education has been informed about the incident, and the police investigation is ongoing.
