Russian Athlete Representing Cyprus Reaches Olympic High Jump Final
Elena Kulichenko, a Russian high jumper now competing for Cyprus, has qualified for the final of the high jump event at the Paris Olympics.
On August 2, the 22-year-old cleared the bar at 183 cm on her first attempt, 188 cm on her second, and 192 cm on her first, securing fourth place in Group A and a spot in the final.
Kulichenko switched her sporting nationality from Russia to Cyprus in 2021 due to restrictions on the Russian Athletics Federation. Despite being involved in a controversy over an OnlyFans account linked to her, she still proudly served as one of Cyprus’s flag bearers at the opening ceremony of the Olympics.
The high jump final is scheduled for Sunday, August 4, at 20:55.
Buse Savaşkan, the sole athlete from the TRNC at the Paris Olympics, has also advanced to the final, representing Turkey.
