Three individuals have been arrested in Paphos for illegal employment
Paphos police have arrested three individuals on charges of illegal employment. Their alleged employers have also been detained.
According to the police press office, the detained individuals, two men aged 28 and 24, and a 23-year-old woman, as well as their alleged employers, two men aged 58 and 41, have been formally charged in writing. All five will be summoned to court later.
Michalis Nicolaou, Assistant Director of the Paphos police, stated that the two men worked in one of the city's restaurants. The 24-year-old man is believed to have been in Cyprus illegally since August, while the 28-year-old arrived in November.
The 23-year-old woman was illegally on the island and had been working at the Paphos market since March.
Whether to hold the employers accountable will be decided by the legal department.
