38 More Migrants Detained in Cyprus Over the Weekend
Over the weekend, 38 more undocumented migrants were detained in the Republic of Cyprus as police stepped up efforts to identify and remove illegal residents.
According to the police press office, the operation began at 5:30 AM on Sunday and concluded around 4:30 PM. It involved officers from the Aliens and Immigration Service (YAM) and the Sub-Directorate for Green Line Surveillance and Illegal Migration Control.
During the checks, 38 individuals from various countries were found to be illegally residing on the island and were taken into custody.
The police emphasized that they are continuing their daily efforts to identify and deport individuals living in Cyprus without legal status.
It’s important to note that nearly 10,000 illegal migrants were deported from the island last year.
