Water Levels in Cyprus Reservoirs at Critical Levels in January
As of January 2025, the water levels in Cyprus' reservoirs are at a critical point. While January is typically the island's wettest month, this year has seen an unusually dry start to the year.

Currently, there has been no significant water inflow into the dams. According to Alphanews, the overall reservoir fill has remained unchanged at a worrying 26.6%. Last year, by this time, water inflow had reached 7.3 billion cubic meters, but this year, by mid-January, it has only amounted to 2.33 billion cubic meters.
Experts warn that, given the current situation, predicting the summer’s water availability is challenging, as the hydrological year largely depends on January's rainfall.
Additionally, the meteorological service has forecast that the weather on the island is unlikely to change significantly in the coming days.
