Traditional Cypriot Village of Kyperounta

Located in the Troodos mountain range, in the Pitsilia region of the Limassol district, the village of Kyperounta is situated at an altitude of approximately 1,300 meters above sea level.

This leafy village is the third highest on the island and retains its traditional character and active population. Its distinctive features—steep roads, vineyards, small courtyards, and houses with tiled roofs and picturesque attics—lend it natural charm. It is renowned for its apples, wine, and traditional cold cuts, all of which contribute to the village's enchanting character.

Kyperounta was founded during the Byzantine era and derives its name from the weed "kypros" or "kyperi," which grows abundantly in the area. The unique microclimate of this area prompted the British to build a sanatorium for tuberculosis patients in the 1930s, which today serves as the Troodos hospital.

Attractions in the village include the Agia Marina Church, dating back to the 18th century, as well as the new majestic church of Agios Arsenios, the ancient Timiou Stavrou Church with unique frescoes that also serve as an iconostasis, and three museums: of natural history, folk art, and the national liberation struggle.

Other interesting places to visit include the Kyperounda Winery and the mountain adventure park, as well as two beautiful nature trails: "Doxa soi o Theos" and "Teisia tis Madaris." The village also offers a hotel and accommodation options for agritourism enthusiasts.
