How Not to End the Swimming Season in November
In November, the sea around Northern Cyprus gradually cools down, while the wind and waves become more important than the water temperature itself. Swimming is possible only when the sea is calm, with suitable equipment and taking personal experience into account.

Conditions in November
November — is a transitional month: on a sunny, windless day, the shore may be comfortable, while in windy and rough conditions, the situation can change quickly. Climate averages are useful as a general guide, but they do not replace checking sea conditions on the day of swimming.
Safety
- Do not enter the water in strong winds, waves, or when there are warnings or no safe way to get out of the water.
- Do not swim alone and do not move far from the shore in cool water.
- Assess the current, rocks and slippery entry before going into the sea.
- After getting out of the water, warm up immediately and change into dry clothes.
Equipment
For regular swimming during the cool season, use a wetsuit suitable for the water temperature and your level of experience. It does not make swimming safe during a storm and does not replace assessing the conditions on site.

Frequently asked questions
Can you swim without a wetsuit in November?
It depends on your personal tolerance and sea conditions. For prolonged swimming in cool water, a wetsuit reduces the risk of hypothermia.
Is checking the water temperature enough?
No. Wind, waves, currents and the ability to get out of the water safely are no less important.
Where can I check warnings?
On the website of the TRNC Meteorological Service before going to the beach.
