During overnight checks across Northern Cyprus, police checked 1 980 drivers. A total of 282 people were penalised for various traffic violations, 28 vehicles were banned from use, and two more drivers were arrested. Of the total number of offenders, 66 drivers exceeded the speed limit, while 19 were driving under the influence of alcohol.

Two drivers were operating vehicles without driving licences and insurance, while another 16 were driving without valid insurance. A total of 24 people were penalised for not having a road permit, while 12 were held accountable for driving a vehicle without a valid roadworthiness inspection.

Violations related to the use of mobile phones while driving, failure to wear seat belts and dangerous driving were also detected. One driver was using a phone while the vehicle was in motion, 15 were driving without seat belts, and another was penalised for dangerous driving. Police also recorded violations of the rules governing the use of electric scooters, road signs and motorcycle helmets.

Two vehicles were found to have window tinting that restricted visibility through the glass, while 18 drivers violated the requirements for using vehicle lighting equipment.

One driver failed to comply with a police order to stop and refused to provide a sufficient breath sample for an alcohol test.

Another 98 drivers were penalised for other traffic violations. Police urged drivers to follow the rules and pay particular attention to speed limits and the prohibition on driving under the influence of alcohol.
