Eastern Mediterranean University admits 92 of 416 students enrolled in TRNC universities through DGS

Eastern Mediterranean University (Doğu Akdeniz Üniversitesi, DAÜ) in Famagusta admitted the largest number of students transferring to TRNC universities through the 2026 Vertical Transfer Exam: of the 416 students enrolled in Northern Cyprus, 92 chose DAÜ.

The Vertical Transfer Exam (Dikey Geçiş Sınavı, DGS) is administered by Türkiye’s Assessment, Selection and Placement Center (ÖSYM). It is intended for graduates of two-year vocational higher education programs who wish to continue their studies in a four-year bachelor’s degree program.

DAÜ accounted for around 22% of all students admitted through DGS in the TRNC — the best result among universities in Northern Cyprus. For comparison, 11,555 students enrolled in TRNC universities through the main university entrance exam, YKS, in 2026.

DAÜ Rector Professor Hasan Kılıç described the result as an indication of trust in the university. “The fact that DAÜ enrolled the largest number of DGS students among the universities in the TRNC is a source of great pride. It reflects the university’s academic level, its wide range of programs and its study conditions,” he said.

Kılıç added that the opportunity to continue their education at bachelor’s degree level is highly important for graduates of two-year programs, and congratulated everyone who was admitted to the university through DGS.
