Değirmenlik-Akıncılar Municipality issues 1,230 cheques worth 2,500 TL each to schoolchildren
Değirmenlik-Akıncılar Municipality (Değirmenlik-Akıncılar) in Northern Cyprus has delivered 1,230 educational support cheques worth 2,500 TL each to schools, totalling 3,075,000 TL. Families of pupils at six kindergartens and primary schools within the municipality will receive the assistance.

The cheques were handed over to school principals, who will distribute them among pupils’ families. The support covers Değirmenlik Primary School, Şehit Mehmet Erey Memorial School, as well as the Balıkesir-Meriç, Cihangir-Düzova and Gaziköy primary schools.
In addition to financial assistance, the municipality carried out maintenance work at the schools, including painting, technical maintenance, disinfection of water tanks and microbiological water analysis.
“Every investment in education is an investment in our future,” Mayor Ali Karavezirler said.
The 2026–2027 academic year in Northern Cyprus will begin on 14 September, with around 59,000 pupils attending 196 schools.
