Director of the Department of Culture Ayşe Akın Holds Meetings in Ankara
Director of the Department of Culture Ayşe Akın took part in the third International Cultural Festival of the Turkic World, organised by the International Organisation of Turkic Culture (TÜRKSOY) in Ankara, and held a number of meetings. According to the Department of Culture, Akın travelled to Ankara at the invitation of TÜRKSOY. She was accompanied on the trip by Ceyhan Özyıldız, head of the department’s cultural centre.
At the festival, organised by TÜRKSOY jointly with the Keçiören Municipality, dancers and musicians from the Otello Folk Association, organised by the Department of Culture, represented the TRNC. As part of her visit to Ankara, Akın visited the TRNC Embassy and met with Ambassador İsmet Korukoğlu, as well as holding a meeting with TÜRKSOY Deputy Secretary-General Sait Yusuf.
During her meeting with Yusuf, Akın emphasised the importance of Turkish Cypriot participation in TÜRKSOY events and cultural events of the Turkic world, expressed her gratitude for the invitation and stated that the TRNC was ready to host TÜRKSOY events.
In addition, Akın met with Ayhan Tuğlu, head of the department at the National Library under the Administration of the President of Türkiye; Taner Beyoğlu, Director General of Libraries and Publications at Türkiye’s Ministry of Culture and Tourism; his deputy, Mehmet Demir; and Filiz Bernay Gültekin, head of the National Library’s technical works department.
The meetings focused on possible steps to develop cooperation between the Department of Culture and the relevant institutions in Türkiye.
