Fire ignition banned until October 31!

The TRNC Fire Department has issued an official warning, reminding residents of the strict ban on lighting any open fire until October 31. The ban also covers burning stubble, dry grass, thorns, branches and garden waste during land clearing. Citizens are urged to remain extremely vigilant and immediately report any signs of smoke by calling 199 (fire service), 177 (forest fires) or 155 (police).
In addition, the department has published a list of key safety recommendations. Drivers are strictly prohibited from throwing unextinguished cigarette butts out of car windows onto roadsides and fields, as well as tossing them into rubbish bins without first making sure they are fully extinguished. When carrying out welding work and using angle grinders, the work area must be cleared of dry grass in advance and a fire extinguisher kept at hand. If faulty transformers, sparking wires or branches that have fallen onto power lines are discovered, the electricity network should be called immediately at 188.
Due to the high load on the grid in residential buildings, it is prohibited to connect several high-power electrical appliances to one power splitter at the same time (irons, toasters, hair dryers), as well as to use deformed cables. Car owners are reminded of the importance of timely vehicle maintenance to check exhaust systems and the absence of fuel leaks in order to avoid spontaneous ignition in hot weather. Citizens are also asked to make sure they have working fire extinguishers in cars, homes and workplaces.
