ELAM calls for the cancellation of the Zamna festival and Barcelona football camp in northern Cyprus

Greek nationalist party ELAM called on the Spanish government and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Cyprus to intervene and secure the cancellation of two events planned in the northern part of Nicosia.

According to the newspaper Politis, after attempts to secure the cancellation of the NEXUS music festival, the party said it had discovered two more events planned to take place in Northern Cyprus.

One of them is the Zamna music festival, which is scheduled to take place on 10 October. The second event is a training football camp run by the Barcelona academy.

ELAM described it as “unthinkable” that a major football academy associated with a team from a European Union member state was planning to hold sporting events in Northern Cyprus.

The party called on the Spanish government to intervene and secure the cancellation of the football camp, while the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Cyprus was asked to take action to cancel both events.
