Five detained in Famagusta over attempted entry into the TRNC in a truck trailer
The number of people detained over an attempted illegal entry into the TRNC in a truck trailer has risen to five. Police arrested two more men, aged 38 and 40; three people aged between 22 and 25 had previously been taken into custody in the same case.

The incident took place on 28 August at the port of Famagusta. The people attempted to enter Northern Cyprus by hiding in the trailer of a truck brought to the island by a vessel from Mersin. The investigation is continuing.
In the same report, police announced the detention of a 25-year-old clothing store employee in Güzelyurt: between July and August 2026, she allegedly misappropriated 4,320 lira in cash and women’s clothing worth 160,025 lira. In addition, three people living in the country without residence permits were detained across the country.
