A time-trial cycling race in eight categories took place in Gaziveren

On Sunday, September 20, a road cycling time trial organized by the Turkish Cypriot Cycling Federation took place in Gaziveren. Winners were determined in eight age and qualification categories, and the award ceremony was held immediately after the finish.

A time trial is a format in which athletes set off on the course individually at equal intervals, and the result is based solely on their individual time: there is no group racing or mass-start tactics.

In the men’s main category, Tugberk Kopça won with a time of 27:56. Emir Abdullah Turalı finished second (28:37), while Şükrü Günsoy came third (30:26). Sevim Yıldız won the women’s race in 28:39, with Emel Karaahmet taking second place (38:31).

Among the juniors under 19, Atlas Toto was the fastest, finishing in 26:48; his time was better than that of the winner of the men’s main category. In the under-17 group, Osman Uncu finished first (31:19), while Eren Tekkanat won the under-15 category (29:14).

The best time of the day was recorded by the veterans: in the Master 3 category, Murat Özdenya and Salih Kopça shared first and second places, both completing the distance in 24:24, while Kemal Palaz came third (25:33). Buğra Cömert won the Master 2 category in 25:19.
