One kilometre of the Gönendere–Tirmen road to be upgraded in Northern Cyprus, with pavements built on both sides
The Geçitkale-Serdarlı Municipality is beginning work on the main road between the villages of Gönendere and Tirmen: engineering infrastructure will be upgraded along a section of approximately 1 km, and pavements will be built on both sides of the road.
The project was prepared by the municipality itself. In addition to the pavements, it includes utility works along the same section, so the road should become more convenient for both vehicles and pedestrians.
Mayor Halil Kasım emphasises that the project is not limited to pavements. “We are carrying out infrastructure works along approximately one kilometre of the main Gönendere–Tirmen road and installing pavements on both sides. This investment is important both for traffic safety and for the appearance of the area,” he said.
According to Kasım, the project is designed to meet the area’s long-term needs, with pedestrian safety given priority: the route should become more orderly and modern.
The mayor added that the municipality is working to provide services to all settlements within its boundaries: “Every village is equally important to us. We set priorities based on needs and are gradually expanding the work across the entire area.”
