Death toll from Filo Jet sinking off Kyrenia rises to 12
The death toll from the sinking of the Filo Jet catamaran off Kyrenia has risen to 12 after the bodies of two more women were recovered during the search. This was announced by TRNC Prime Minister Ünal Üstel.

The bodies were found by the Turkish vessels TCG Işın and TCG Alemdar, which are operating at the site of the sinking at a depth of approximately 550 m. According to the prime minister, the search for the 16 missing people is continuing around the clock without interruption.
The Filo Jet catamaran was travelling on the Kyrenia–Taşucu route when it capsized on 30 August. There were 267 people on board, 239 of whom were rescued. Until today, official figures had reported 10 deaths and 18 people missing.
Seven vessels and 11 aircraft, as well as underwater robots and equipment for operations at depths of more than 550 m, have been deployed in the search. Üstel thanked the services involved and expressed his condolences to the families of those who died.
