Activists to clean up Glapsides wetlands in Famagusta on 12 September
The “Her Daim Doğa Dostları” group (“Friends of Nature Always”) and the Cyprus Wetlands Community (Kıbrıs Sulak Alan Topluluğu) will hold a clean-up and awareness-raising event on Saturday, 12 September, at the Glapsides wetlands in Famagusta.

According to group chairman Yusuf Şentug, participants will gather at 06:30 by the Glapsides car park, and the event will end at 07:15. Logistical support is being provided by Famagusta Municipality and Oza Kahve.
Şentug emphasises that Glapsides is one of the city’s and nature’s most important sources of life: the wetlands serve as a resting place for migratory birds and remain a tourist attraction in Famagusta.
In addition, the wetland area absorbs excess water during heavy rain and protects Famagusta from flooding.
