A power bank left in a van caused a fire in Gönyeli
A parked van caught fire in Gönyeli, Northern Cyprus: according to police, the cause was an external battery — a power bank left in the front of the cabin and overheated in the sun. The fire broke out on 19 September at around 14:30 on Şehit Mustafa Orhan Street.
The fire damaged the front of the vehicle, the electrical wiring and the cabin’s ceiling upholstery, while the windscreen cracked from the heat. Fire crews extinguished the van, registration number RH 465. No one was injured.
According to the police press office, an investigation into the circumstances of the fire is ongoing.
