Guterres to hold a series of meetings in Cyprus

UN Secretary-General António Guterres will continue his visit programme in Cyprus on Tuesday. Meetings with community leaders, official events and actions by civil society organisations are scheduled throughout the day.

At 10:30, representatives of the bicommunal initiative for a united Cyprus will gather outside the Home for Cooperation to welcome Guterres and express support for a federal settlement of the Cyprus issue.

At 11:45, the UN Secretary-General will meet with TRNC President Tufan Erhürman.

The programme also includes a wreath-laying ceremony at the memorial near the Ledra Palace Hotel, a visit to the laboratory of the Committee on Missing Persons and a meeting with civil society representatives at the office of the UN Good Offices Mission.

At 18:30, simultaneous events organised by bicommunal peace initiatives are scheduled. In Northern Cyprus, the event will take place at the Metehan roundabout, while in the Republic of Cyprus it will be held at the entrance to the UN representation opposite the University of Nicosia.

The day will conclude with a working dinner in the buffer zone, where Guterres will meet with Tufan Erhürman and the leader of the Greek Cypriot administration, Nikos Christodoulides.
