Driver fined 95,000 lira for dangerous driving in Güzelyurt
Güzelyurt police have launched an investigation after a video was posted on social media showing a person riding on the front bonnet of a moving car.
The incident occurred the previous evening in the car park of the open market in Güzelyurt. After the video emerged, traffic police officers identified the driver of the car and the person who had been on the bonnet.
The driver was fined under three separate offences:
• 70,893 lira and 100 penalty points — for driving under the influence of alcohol;
• 14,178.60 lira and 25 points — for dangerous driving;
• 10,633.95 lira and 10 points — for carrying a passenger outside the seats provided by the vehicle’s design.
The driver’s total fines amounted to 95,705.55 lira, while the number of penalty points was 135.
The person who was on the front bonnet of the car while it was moving was also fined 7,089.30 lira.
Legal proceedings have been initiated against both participants. The investigation is continuing.
