Hasipoğlu discussed cooperation and human rights with Pakistan

TRNC Minister of Labour and Social Security Oğuzhan Hasipoğlu met with Pakistan’s Minister of Justice and Human Rights, Azam Nazeer Tarar, during his visit to Islamabad.

The sides discussed human rights protection, cooperation in education and the labour market, as well as strengthening bilateral ties and coordination on international platforms.

Hasipoğlu said he greatly values the support Pakistan provides to Turkish Cypriots and welcomed Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s statement on continuing support for the TRNC.

Tarar, for his part, stressed that Pakistan attaches great importance to developing relations with the TRNC and opposes the international isolation of Turkish Cypriots. According to him, broader contacts between the sides will bring mutual benefit.

The meeting was also attended by Director of the Department of Social Services Alev Ecevit, TRNC Representative in Islamabad Buket Kop, and Adviser Eda Özçetiner Demir.

On Monday, Hasipoğlu will speak at the 9th ministerial conference of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation, dedicated to the role of women in the development of the organisation’s member states.
