A campaign in support of victims of sexual violence has been launched in Northern Cyprus

Women's support association KAYAD announced the launch of the "I Believe You" campaign, which aims to help victims of sexual harassment, violence and exploitation safely report what happened and receive legal and psychological support.

The organization said that victims will be accompanied through all stages of filing a report with law enforcement and will be provided with the necessary psychosocial support. KAYAD can be reached at 0533 824 14 14.

The campaign was launched in response to a case in Lapta, where new alleged victims emerged after two sisters reported sexual harassment by their mother’s partner. KAYAD stressed that silence allows offenders to remain unpunished, while seeking help can prevent new cases of violence.

The organization also urged state authorities to conduct investigations with due regard for children’s rights and gender sensitivity principles, ensure the safety of victims, and prevent their re-traumatization during the investigation.
