Houston Turned into Tashkent: Thousands of Uzbeks Staged a Spectacular Show Ahead of the Match Against Portugal
Before Uzbekistan's match against Portugal at the World Cup, Houston was taken over by a football celebration. Thousands of Uzbek fans from across America came to support the national team.
A large fan zone was set up in the city, with the main highlight being the preparation of 700 kilograms of plov. The popular group «Irina Kairatovna» also performed for the guests.
Support for the Uzbek team came not only from compatriots. Numerous fans from Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan joined the supporters, turning the stands into a true celebration of Central Asian unity.
Flags of Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan filled the streets and the stadium, and the atmosphere around the match more closely resembled a national festival than an ordinary football game.
For the Uzbekistan national team, making its debut at the World Cup, such support became one of the brightest moments of the tournament.
